In 2015, Bradley Revill joined Massey Trucks and has already started working his way up the ladder as he got promoted from prepper to trainee sprayer.
We wanted to know a bit more about Bradley’s time at Massey so far and what future career plans he has lined up.
Bradley, how has your career evolved since being at Massey Trucks?
I started working for Massey Trucks in 2015 as a prepper. This job involved me prepping the vehicles, chassis, cabs, and bodies for painting. Two years in I was promoted to Sprayer where I now mask up the trucks and – as the name suggests – spray them. I’m really enjoying it. We are a department of two, mainly working autonomously though we do team up on some of the bigger projects.
I’ve learned a lot of new skills in this role and over time it has developed to include more responsibilities. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so I like to make sure everything is neat and clean. Spraying is probably the best skill I have learned here, so far.
Have there been any projects you have found particularly challenging?
The most challenging part of the job is quality control; making sure we don’t have any paint runs on a vehicle. When a customer is paying for premium quality, we ensure that’s what they get.
If you can pick one, what has been your favourite project at Massey so far?
One of my favourite projects has to be painting a 40ft nitrogen pumping trailer unit entirely green. These tankers are huge and the job was complex, involving a lot of sanding down and masking up.
What are your future career ambitions?
Over the next couple of years, I’d like to keep doing what I’m doing, learning on the job. I’m a trainee at the moment so ideally, I’d continue to work my way up to be a fully qualified and experienced sprayer, then maybe look at progressing into a paint supervisor role.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Bradley for taking the time to share his story with us.
